Mineral Wool Acoustic Insulation for Building and Industrial Assemblies
Insulvora supplies rock wool board and blanket for mineral wool acoustic insulation in partition walls, ceilings, absorptive panels, and industrial enclosures. Board fits regular framed cavities and panel cores; blanket follows larger, curved, or irregular surfaces. Ceiling spaces may use either form, depending on support and layout.
Acoustic objectives, support, temperature, and the complete assembly govern the final configuration.
Product Direction by Acoustic Application
| Application | First Product Direction | What Determines the Choice |
|---|---|---|
| Partition or wall cavity | Rock wool board | Fits regular framed cavities. Depth controls board fit; lining and sealing influence sound isolation. |
| Ceiling cavity or plenum | Rock wool board or blanket | Board fits supported bays; blanket suits broader areas with suitable retention. Allow for services and overhead access. |
| Absorptive panel core | Rock wool board | Stable core for framed panels; facing and mounting affect absorption. |
| Equipment enclosure | Rock wool board or blanket | Board for flat supported faces; blanket for curved sections. Check temperature, protective lining, and access. |
| Industrial thermal and acoustic insulation | Rock wool blanket or board | Blanket for larger or contoured equipment; board for supported flat surfaces. Match thermal duty and protection. |
| Fire-sensitive acoustic assembly | Match the specified construction | Confirm product and system evidence; material classification alone does not establish a system fire-resistance rating. |
Rock Wool Board and Blanket Supply Range
Insulvora Rock Wool Board is available at 60–200 kg/m³ density and 30–150 mm thickness, with standard dimensions of 1.2 × 0.6 m. For mineral wool acoustic insulation in regular cavities, this format provides a stable, cut-to-fit layer. It also serves as the core of framed absorptive panels.
For a rockwool acoustic board used in a panel, the facing and mounting affect its final performance. Thickness and density are matched to cavity space, required firmness, and construction—not treated as stand-alone acoustic ratings. High Density Rock Wool Board is a separate option when a firmer core is specified.
Insulvora Rock Wool Blanket is available in 25–200 mm thickness and 0.6–1.2 m width. The flexible format follows larger and changing surfaces where rigid boards would require more cutting and joints. Vertical, overhead, and exposed installations still need suitable retention and protective finishing.
Final Acoustic Performance Depends on the Complete Assembly
With mineral wool acoustic insulation, absorption inside a cavity and sound isolation through the completed construction are separate considerations. Mineral wool sound insulation contributes to sound absorption, but wall or ceiling isolation also depends on lining mass, framing connections, airtightness, penetrations, and flanking paths.
That distinction affects actual installations. In a ceiling, supports hold the insulation overhead, but services and shared plenums may create sound paths around it. In an equipment enclosure, a blanket can follow the casing shape without resolving leakage at access openings, joints, or penetrations.
For rockwool acoustic applications, density alone cannot predict absorption or sound reduction. Thickness, cavity depth, frequency range, facing, and mounting also affect the outcome. NRC figures must relate to the tested absorptive configuration; sound-reduction values must relate to the tested assembly.
A mineral wool acoustic insulation specification should therefore identify the intended construction and the evidence relevant to it, rather than relying on a density figure alone.
