Typical Applications

Foil faced fiberglass insulation is used for external air duct insulation, roof insulation and other building applications requiring flexible glass wool with a finished foil surface.

For air duct projects, the roll format provides continuous coverage over duct surfaces while the glass wool layer provides thermal insulation and acoustic absorption. For roofing and other large-area insulation work, the product can be supplied in continuous rolls with plain or reinforced foil facing according to the required project configuration.

Thermal Performance & Product Data

The glass wool layer provides thermal insulation and sound absorption, while the foil facing affects surface protection, vapor control and joint detailing. The 350°C rating applies to the unfaced glass wool substrate; standard laminating adhesive limits the continuous service temperature of the finished faced product to 100°C. Thermal resistance still depends mainly on installed thickness and continuity.

Reflective performance requires an adjacent air space, while vapor-control performance depends on the facing's permeance and the continuous sealing of laps, joints and penetrations. Product data should identify the facing type, reinforcement, single- or double-sided construction and corresponding test values. Any damaged facing or openings should be repaired after installation in accordance with the system requirements.
